Neighborhood bars and clubs rarely require advance tickets; you walk in. Ticketed rooms like Tipitina's, the Fillmore, the Civic Theatre, the Orpheum, and Preservation Hall can and do sell out on weekends, especially for touring acts. Buy ahead where a ticket link is listed.

What is the best night for live music in New Orleans?

There is no bad night. Fridays and Saturdays have the most shows and the biggest bookings; Sunday has its own tradition, from evening brass band sets to the long-running Sunday night residencies. The ticketed rooms: Tipitina's, the Fillmore, the Civic Theatre, the Orpheum, the Saenger, Preservation Hall. Touring acts and weekend nights sell out. Everything else is mostly walk-in.

Where should I spend a night?
